The FFKM, the Ecumenical Council of Christian Churches of Madagascar, is not giving up. With less than 15 days to go before the first round of the presidential election and growing tensions around the electoral process, the FFKM still intends to play the role of mediator.

Yesterday in Ampandrana, these religious leaders brought together several personalities who have held positions of high responsibility in the country. We noted the presence of former ministers, former and current heads of institutions, presidents of unions, such as that of the Magistrates’ Union or the Bar Association. Concurring sources revealed that the postponement of the presidential election, scheduled for November 16, was at the heart of the participants’ discussion. A postponement of the vote that the current government and the High Constitutional Court (HCC) have already refused.

Christine Razanahamasoa, president of the National Assembly, was also present in Ampandrana, as were the former president of the CENI, Atallah Béatrice and Professor Raymond Ranjeva. Last Monday, Christine Razanamahasoa met the members of the Collective of 10 candidates in Tsimbazaza. The latter, disowned by her own camp after her controversial speech during the opening ceremony of the second parliamentary session, announced on October 17 that she would be making herself available to the Republic and will go where a lasting solution to the crisis will be found. .

The FFKM began consultations and mediation several weeks ago between the various stakeholders in the electoral process. A series of meetings with presidential candidates, the international community, and various heads of institutions took place without any real change in the situation.
