The car had locked automatically – but the child and keys were still in the car.

Accidentally locking your child in the car is probably the nightmare of many parents. This is exactly what happened to a mother in Neumarkt on Tuesday morning. The 23-year-old had parked her vehicle in front of the medical center. The car then locked itself for an unknown reason. The doors could no longer be opened. The car keys and her two-year-old son were still in the vehicle.

The woman from Flachgau notified the police, and the officers then called the ÖAMTC breakdown service in Eugendorf. “We set off straight away,” says roadside helper Roland Padurice. “The child was sitting in the car seat and was very quiet.”

The breakdown assistant was able to open the car within a minute. “We do it the classic way,” says Padurice. By this the Flachgauer means: with an air cushion and a lever tool. The breakdown assistant has to open a car door about once a year. The mother was finally able to hug her child safely, according to police.
