17 people saved from drowning in the sea, agency informed

Panaji: Seventeen people, including two from Kazakhstan, were rescued from drowning in the sea in over ten separate incidents across Goa during the Diwali weekend. The agency involved in the rescue operation gave this information on Wednesday.

The agency said that both the foreign nationals were rescued safely after they got trapped in the strong current of water at Arambol beach in North Goa. He said that two other people from Delhi and Bengaluru were also rescued from the same beach.

A spokesperson of ‘Drishti Marine Lifesavers’ said that between Friday and Sunday, three girls from Uttar Pradesh were rescued from the beach in Calangute. He said that in other such incidents, two more persons were rescued safely from the beach.

According to Dynamite News correspondent, the spokesperson said that rescue teams also conducted rescue operations in Mandrem, Agonda, Cavelossim, Morjim and Sinquerim. He said the rescue team also reunited two missing girls, a five-year-old and a nine-year-old, with their parents during their operation.
