She was the emblematic voice of Italian football in France. Italian journalist Alessandra Bianchi, ambassador of Calcio in France, died “prematurely” at the age of 59, announced the Italian newspaper The Republic this Tuesday evening.

The Lega Pro (formerly Serie C, or Italian 3rd division championship) paid tribute to a “valuable journalist” and “an extraordinary person”. “There are many memories that will never fade: those linked to work and those of your many passions: journalism, Rome, books, Paris, Modigliani. (…) The most sincere and sincere condolences from President Matteo Marani and the entire Lega Pro are addressed to the Bianchi family at this difficult moment,” the body concludes.

Best known for being the consultant in charge of Italian football in the former flagship program of the encrypted channel dedicated to the four major European championships “L’Équipe du Dimanche” from 2005, Alessandra Bianchi began her career in the dedicated transalpine daily in sport Corriere dello Sport before becoming a correspondent in Italy for the newspaper L’Équipe and Le Parisien.

Identifiable by her broken and hoarse voice, her beautiful Italian accent and her assumed love for Roma and Francesco Totti, she left television for radio in 2006 and published in 2008 a book inspired by her life entitled “Calcio, mon Amour”, where she recounts the passion for football of Andrea, a 7-year-old Roman girl. A work in which she describes her journey strewn with pitfalls to become a sports journalist in the predominantly male world of football.

Many tributes on social networks

More recently, she returned to Italy to work for four years in the communications department of Lega Pro, organizer of the three Serie C championships, the third Italian football division.

Since the announcement of his death, several of his former colleagues such as Darren Tulett, Didier Roustan and Vincent Duluc have paid tribute to him on X.

According to La Repubblica, Alessandra Bianchi will be buried this Thursday at the chapel of San Nicola al Borghetto dei Pescatori, in Ostia, a coastal town located west of Rome, where she is from.
