The until now executive general director of LaLiga, Óscar Mayo Pardo, will leave the institution in January 2024 to face new professional challenges and his current deputy, Jorge de la Vega, will replace him in the position.
Mayo became the executive director of LaLiga in 2021 and, after a total of seven years working in club management, he chose to take other professional paths that, according to several media outlets, would have Atlético de Madrid as his goal.
In LaLiga, the manager was responsible for the exponential growth of commercial income or the signing of agreements such as the one signed with the CVC fund, which contributed close to 2,000 million euros to the competition, or the ‘joint ventures’ in China or the United States .
“Óscar has been able to perform all the positions he has held in LaLiga in an excellent manner and with his work he has contributed decisively to the main milestones achieved in recent years,” said the president of LaLiga, Javier Tebas, about Mayo.
With his departure, LaLiga – they assure that they have been preparing this transition for weeks – is reorganized in terms of organizational chart and appoints the new executive general director who until now was deputy to this direction, Jorge de la Vega.
De la Vega, who joined the entity three years ago, was Commercial and Marketing Director, achieving a 130% growth in the areas under his direction and being responsible for achievements such as the signing of the ‘title sponsor’ with EA Sports.
To this experience he adds his more than 12 years occupying different positions of responsibility within the Marketing area at Real Madrid, which give him a “global vision of the key industry” for the performance of his new role.
LaLiga will appoint, with the aim of “strengthening the management”, Juan Vicente Marín as deputy director of De la Vega. With more than 6 years of experience in the entity, he was previously CEO of LaLiga Entertainment, where he also has a replacement planned.
“Both Jorge de la Vega and Juan Vicente Marín will be part of the LaLiga Executive Committee upon their appointments and between them they will occupy the positions held by Mayo in the LaLiga investee companies. Marta Alonso, attached to the General Corporate Management, also joins to the Executive Committee, thus reinforcing the presence of both directions,” LaLiga noted.
