Universal Pictures has announced a new release date for the highly anticipated action thriller, The Fall Guy, starring Ryan Gosling. Originally slated for release on March 1, 2024, the film’s debut has now been delayed until May 3, 2024.
The decision to reschedule the release comes as a result of a Marvel release date reshuffle, which saw Deadpool 3, originally due to debut on May 3, being moved to July 26. This provided an opportunity for The Fall Guy to secure a more favorable release date.
The Fall Guy stars Ryan Gosling as Colt Seavers, a former stuntman who is drawn back into the industry when the lead actor of a major blockbuster (played by Aaron Taylor Johnson) goes missing. Emily Blunt portrays Jody Moreno, the film’s director and Seavers’ ex, while Hannah Waddingham takes on the role of the film’s ruthless producer. The movie is directed by David Leitch and based on a screenplay by Drew Pearce.
The film is a modern adaptation of the original TV series that aired on ABC from 1981 to 1986. The show followed the story of a stuntman-turned-bounty-hunter who utilized his skills in auto-stunts to track down criminals. The original star of the series, Lee Majors, will also make an appearance in the movie.
