Brittis Benzler Appointed as New Governor of Jönköping County
The government has announced the appointment of Brittis Benzler as the new governor of Jönköping County. Benzler, who has been serving as governor of Halland County, will also head the County Board in Jönköping. Her term is set to commence on January 15, 2024, and will continue until November 30, 2027.
Civil minister, Erik Slottner, expressed his satisfaction with Benzler’s appointment, stating, “Brittis Benzler has been a valued governor in Halland County, and I am happy that she has accepted a new assignment as governor in Jönköping County.”
Born in 1958, Benzler has had an extensive career in politics. She was a member of the Left Party’s party board for nearly three decades, from 1993 to 2020. Additionally, she served as a group leader in the regional council on Gotland for over 20 years and as a regional councilor on Gotland for 12 years. Since 2020, she has been the governor of Halland County.
Benzler’s wealth of experience and her track record in public service make her a strong candidate for the role of governor in Jönköping County. Her appointment is expected to bring a fresh perspective and effective leadership to the region.
