PARIS (Agefi-Dow Jones)–The construction and concessions group Eiffage announced Thursday that it had been selected to carry out the civil engineering work for EDF’s first two new generation nuclear reactors (EPR2) in Penly (Normandy).

The amount of the contract awarded to Eiffage Génie Civil is more than 4 billion euros, the group indicated in a press release.

Preparatory work should begin in mid-2024 subject to administrative authorizations being obtained by EDF. “The civil engineering work will focus in particular on the construction of the enclosure of each reactor – dome 70 meters high and 50 meters in diameter – and machine rooms,” specifies the press release.

Eiffage will also build an operating building on six levels of 15,000 m2.
