Fürth (pm/ak) – The Manfred Roth Foundation recently donated a total of 10,000 euros to non-profit organizations in Nuremberg and Fürth. The Nuremberg City Mission received V. and the Evangelical Youth in the Fürth Deanery each received 5,000 euros.

The checks were signed at NORMA’s Fürth headquarters by foundation board member Dr. Wilhelm Polster and foundation board member Klaus Teichmann. Dr. Wilhelm Polster commented at the handover: “I really admire the commitment of the institutions. This is exactly what our society needs.”

The Nuremberg City Mission e. V. works with its resocialization working group for former prisoners by supporting them, for example, in finding accommodation or looking for a job. A project that originally came from Hamburg has recently become established in the Nuremberg area – and for the first time in Bavaria: “Ex-prisoners teach school – prisoners help young people” is receiving great support. Former prisoners are initially carefully trained and supervised so that in the next step they can attend schools on their own. There they explain to young people about everyday life in prison and show them the effects that crimes have on themselves and those around them. Jochen Nußbaum from the city mission’s donor and sponsorship department commented at the handover: “We want to dismantle the almost glorifying image of crime and drugs that dominates the minds of many young people today through music and film. It’s just something completely different when students are informed first-hand about the consequences of criminal activity and they see with their own eyes what everyday life in prison is like.” The donation finances training, support for employees and contributes to further Establishment of the project in the Nuremberg area.

The Evangelical Youth in the Fürth Deanery is also happy about a donation of 5,000 euros. The social institution teaches young people the Christian values of solidarity, community, participation and tolerance and shows them how they can implement these values. The donation will be used to organize a deanery confirmation day in spring 2024, which will consist of various workshops and a concluding service with a DJ. With over 600 registrations already, the event is taking place for the first time on a large scale in the Fürth deanery. Thomas Vitzthum, deanery youth officer at the Evangelical Youth, explains: “After the lockdowns, there was an increasing desire in the district’s communities to organize a joint confirmation day. In order to set this up and ensure a varied program that also covers the physical well-being of the children and those involved, we need all the help we can get – including financial support. The donation from the Manfred Roth Foundation is important “It’s all for the benefit of the children.”
