Avinasi was the site of a somber and respectful procession on Tuesday, as all political parties came together to pay tribute to the late leader Sankaraiah, a revered figure in Mahatma Gandhi’s movement.

The procession began at the front of the traveller’s hostel and made its way through the main streets to Sengadu V.U.C., where it concluded. Here, representatives from all parties laid floral tributes at Sankaraiah’s portrait before holding a condolence meeting.

The meeting was presided over by Powerloom Samela State Executive Muthuswamy, with speeches from a number of prominent figures including Panchayat Union Committee President M. Com, Union Secretary Iswaramurthy, District Committee Members Venkatachalam and Palaniswami from DMK, City Secretary Vasantakumar from E.Com., Union Secretary Shanmugam from ADMK, Jagatheesan from MDMK, Subramani and Babu from Congress, union executive Lakshmanaswamy from Communist Party of India, and executive Rajkumar among others.

The coming together of all the political parties, despite their differing ideologies and beliefs, was a powerful display of unity and respect for a leader who had played a significant role in the fight for India’s independence.

Sankaraiah’s legacy and influence were clearly still felt in Avinasi, as the event saw a strong turnout and heartfelt sentiments expressed by all those in attendance. His contributions to the nation’s history were truly honored in a fitting and dignified manner.
