During the government administration that is about to end, the province has managed to complete numerous health infrastructure works consisting of the construction of half a dozen hospitals in different departments, a large number of health posts and first aid rooms, but without being able to optimize the health service either due to a lack of adequate equipment, medical or nursing personnel or for not making the system more operational with services or schedules that currently do not fit the needs of the people.

Bringing public health to the interior of the province, easing the operation of large health centers such as the Guillermo Rawson and Marcial Quiroga hospitals or the clinics assigned to care for the elderly, such as Santa Clara, must be one of the objectives to be met in the next period. As a result of these inconveniences, complaints have been numerous in recent years, in which despite the economic effort, a good health service has not been achieved that covers the needs of the entire population, especially in the most remote areas.

Departments such as 25 de Mayo, Jáchal, Calingasta, Pocito and Angaco have recently had brand new hospitals that should meet the requirements of each of these places, but that sometimes demonstrate a series of shortcomings that translate into inefficient care, caused, mainly, by the lack of human resources and medical supplies for patient care. There are other cases such as the Dr. César Aguilar de Caucete Hospital, which in recent years has been losing efficiency in some essential services such as maternity, a situation that is very serious as it is a hospital intended to serve a large non-profit population. only from that department but also from Valle Fértil and San Martín.

Given this situation, one of the steps to follow is to improve basic services in pediatrics, maternity, traumatology, X-rays and pharmacy. Along with this, carry out a reassignment of personnel in order to distribute the professional personnel that is available in the places where it is really needed.

As has already been pointed out on another occasion, in terms of public health the example to follow in the province is the Dr. Marcial Quiroga Hospital, which this year received an award for being the fifth best health center in Argentina in primary diagnosis. This achievement was achieved thanks to the expansion work in that hospital that was able to combine a magnificent building project, with first-class equipment and the attention of doctors and nurses, which is what has earned it this distinction.

On the other hand, at the Rawson Hospital it can be seen that human resources and medical supplies are better allocated, according to the height and prestige of this health center. But, as in Marcial Quiroga, progress must continue in other aspects such as the capacity for attention so that people do not have to wait long periods to be attended to, as often happens.
