Cuauhtémoc Mayor’s Office and businessmen announce loans to those affected by a fire in the Centro warehouse

After the fire in a shoe warehouse located on the streets of Honduras and Aztecas, Centro neighborhood, staff from the Cuauhtémoc mayor’s office, headed by Mayor Sandra Cuevas, announced that with the support of the private initiative they will grant loans to those affected.

Until 10:00 p.m. this Thursday, the mayor of Cuauhtémoc remained at the site of the incident where she helped remove merchandise, while when the fire was almost extinguished, the head of Government, Martí Batres, arrived.

Fire consumes shoe warehouse in the Historic Center

The demarcation indicated that Batres arrived escorted by police officers and began to block the way to all the people who were in the place, including Mayor Sandra Cuevas.

This action was disqualified by the councilor: “He wants to brag about a job that he did not do, that he was not with the people, that he did not see their anguish, that he did not see how they were suffering. We were running, you saw us, we made a chain to take out the goods.”

“We are not going to allow the person in charge of the Head of Government to come, whoever it is, we are not going to let him in if he does not come from the beginning, if he is not looking out for the people,” he said.

Cuevas stated that everything is settled and “now (Batres) is coming to stop here. So that you can see that they can say many things about me, but the most difficult people are in Tepito, in La Lagunilla, in the Center, see how they support us because we come with our hearts and because we are just like them,” he expressed.

Regarding the fire, he explained that it all started in the back plaza known as “the neighborhood square, the people of the neighborhoods” whom “we are also going to support.” “Tomorrow we are going to have a dialogue table and I am going to generate with the private initiative that they lend them a certain resource so that they continue working,” he indicated.
