THE SEMINAR IS ORGANIZED AROUND THREE DEBATES:

1. Expert language

Understanding the experts: the first link of change

The response to climate change begins with scientific research, which sets the roadmap for the different actors in their search for practical measures. The first challenge of scientific language is, therefore, to transfer technical knowledge both to journalists and to a public that is not necessarily specialized, including experts in different areas. In this task, given its global nature, environmental translation is presented as an indispensable tool. Natural disasters, increase in temperature, health problems…; How to scientifically explain climate change from the most visible effects for the citizen? Without forgetting environmental and climate law, in which the terms used are also key.

2. Language of activism

From words to environmental action: activism and dissemination

Communicators are a fundamental pillar in the transmission of rigorous and truthful information, especially thanks to social networks and other platforms that allow scientists to give their technical message a more attractive, visual and accessible format. Activism is also nourished by these tools, which uses language as a means to raise awareness.
