The promotional day once again attracts big discounts. But not every offer delivers what it promises – but some do.

It’s that time of year again when email inboxes are full of discount campaigns and retailers’ shop windows are plastered with promotional posters: November 24th is Black Friday. “Black Friday” actually heralds the start of the Christmas shopping season – but in the days before and after, companies also lure people with supposedly high discounts.

And this is the beginning of the time of year again when many consumers will be disappointed about their purchase. Because not all offers are worth it. At least that’s what an analysis by the price comparison portal Idealo shows, for which the company compared the average prices of almost 10,000 products on Black Friday 2022 with those of the previous month of October. The result: Last year, consumers were able to save an average of just six percent. And only ten percent of all products examined were reduced by 20 percent or more.
