OVIEDO, 18 Nov. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Minister of Education, Lydia Espina, stressed this Saturday that inclusion “is one of the pillars and the true soul of counseling”, with the development of several programs such as PROA+ or Vuela, which includes the network of open classrooms or the strategy with high-ability students. Likewise, she has mentioned the line of annual aid for associations, NGOs and non-profit entities to carry out projects that promote equity and inclusion, which this edition will distribute almost 500,000 euros.

Espina inaugurated this Saturday in Avilés at the conference ‘Family participation for inclusive education’, organized by Ayuda en Acción, in collaboration with the City Council and the University of Oviedo.

He was accompanied by the Councilor for Education, Training and Employment of Avilés, Juan Carlos Guerrero; the general director of Educational Inclusion and Planning, David Artime, and the head of the NGO in Asturias, Elena Rúa. The director of Aid in Action Europe, Matías Figueroa, also participated by videoconference.

The counselor has reiterated that the educational system resembles a triangle, formed by students, teachers and families, “and these three parts cannot function in isolation, but rather have to be closely related,” while the administration must exercise the management and coordination tasks.

The counselor has highlighted the role of the management teams of the educational centers, “who are the ones who have to exercise leadership and offer opportunities for participation by all sectors of the educational community.”

Another “essential role”, in the opinion of the counselor, is played by the parents’ associations, which receive the support of the Ministry of Education. On the one hand, through the annual call for subsidies to finance their projects and activities; and, through quarterly meetings to inform them of the news and the progress of each course, in addition to listening to their demands, on the other.

The counselor has also mentioned the master plan, which this year includes talks with families about prevention and proper use of social networks. And this year the participation spaces project will be recovered, where there will also be talks and workshops for families. “In the counseling we have a firm commitment to the inclusion and participation of families and we will maintain it in the future,” she stressed.

Espina has finally expressed his gratitude to the organization Ayuda en Acción “for its great work in supporting the most vulnerable people and its fight to ensure that they have access to a decent education.” And, in particular, she congratulated them for organizing these days, as well as for their strategy: A school that breaks barriers, “that promotes an inclusive educational system that addresses the diversity of needs and abilities of the students.” This socio-educational project involves almost 6,000 people in Spain and has the participation of three Asturian schools and one institute.
