A surprising but fair Miss Universe final gave Sheynnis Palacios, representative of Nicaragua, the title of Miss Universe 2023, while Anntonia Porsild of Thailand became the first alternate and Moraya Wilson of Australia came in third place.
During her presentation, Palacios said that she seeks to do work for mental health, since she herself suffered episodes of anxiety that led her to harm herself. The three women advanced to the semifinal after leaving behind the delegates from Puerto Rico, Karla Guilfu, and from Colombia, Camila Avella.
The questions that advanced them to the next round touched on topics such as what you would do if it were your last day on earth, what they would bring to the organization if they won, and how they would advance gender equality.

The ceremony of the 72nd edition of the contest was held at the José Adolfo Pineda National Gymnasium in San Salvador with 84 candidates from autonomous countries and territories to compete for the title.
The contest was full of “firsts,” because breaking weight and size patterns, the representative of Nepal, Jane Dipika Garrett, was selected among the 20 semifinalists.
To give a voice to all women and to become an inclusive edition, Miss Universe had the participation, for the first time, of two transgender women. One of them is Marina Machete, 23, who was recently crowned Miss Portugal, and Rikkie Kollé, the first transgender representative of Miss Netherlands.
