“Distinguished Migueleños” initiative pays tribute to illustrious personalities

The Vice President of the Republic of El Salvador, Mr. Félix Ulloa Jr., participated in the “Distinguished Migueleños” Ceremony, an initiative organized by UNIVO, with the aim of paying tribute to illustrious personalities who over time have stood out for their commitment, leadership and dedication in favor of society.

During the event, Vice President Ulloa recognized the hard work of Salvadorans, especially those invited to the activity, who actively contribute to strengthening the communities. In this context, he expressed his satisfaction for the award to citizens whose efforts have left El Salvador a legacy of notable progress, especially in the educational field.

The Vice President stated that, in parallel to individual efforts, the Government of President Nayib Bukele carries out intense work to ensure that the population has access to essential resources that enhance their academic and technological capabilities in an environment of peace. In this sense, he highlighted the “Links to Education” program, which facilitates the provision of fundamental tools so that new generations are prepared to face the challenges inherent to the fourth industrial revolution. In addition, he stated that this is the first Government to invest more than 5% of the IDB in this area.

Subsequently, the university authorities also honored Vice President Ulloa for his outstanding contribution to El Salvador in areas such as Central American Integration, justice, rights, professionalization of the public service, development and others.

Likewise, he thanked this recognition and reiterated his commitment to continue carrying out actions in favor of the Salvadoran population.

For his part, the Rector of the Universidad de Oriente, Mr. Pedro Arieta Vega, highlighted the merit of the 24 honorees, highlighting their significant contribution in various pedagogical areas, health, judicial, environment, literature, among others. Likewise, he highlighted that these personalities are not only a source of inspiration, but also a positive example for new generations.

Also participating in the activity were: the Vice-Rector General UNIVO, Mr. Ever Martínez; the Academic Vice-Rector UNIVO, Mrs. María Sevillano; media and students of different careers from the Universidad de Oriente.
