Avishag Samberg is the Israeli champion again. The taekwondo fighter, who won a historic bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics last summer, added a gold medal to the balance at the Israeli championships held in Ramla today (Friday).
Samberg defeated Zohar Barda 2:23 in the final in the weight category up to 49 kg. She took advantage of the height and quality advantage to lead 2: 9 at the end of the first round. With push kicks and a 2:20 lead at the end of the second round before winning 2:23, Aviv Shaked and Jordan Nesher won bronze medals.
In the men, Nimrod Krivitsky won a gold medal in the weight category up to 68 kg after defeating Omri Azulai in the final 10:33. Who won 10:33 in the end.
Krivitsky then also defeated Ukrainian Vladislav Yarku in a showcase battle. In the men’s up to 54 kg category, Eitan Haimovich won a gold medal after defeating Roi Stein in the final 20:26. Rom Alfasi and Agam Ilani won bronze medals. Uri Patishi won a gold medal up to 58 kg, Erez Dor won silver and Dror Chen David and Tom Pashkovsky Bard. Itamar Sasson was crowned champion up to 80 kg after beating Ilya Rodman who won the money and Elad Tuval and Liran Malachi who won the bronze.
And even today, Nir Fadlon won in the weight category up to 74 kg. Shlomi, who won the money and Elad Lenny and Noam Saadon Bard. Dana Azran finished first in the women’s up to 73 kg category before Sapir Sipuran and Or Wepner.
The competition was held this year to mark the 50th anniversary of the assassination of 11 Munich victims and in the presence of Ramla Mayor Michael Vidal, MK Simon Davidson and Olympic Committee Chairman Yael Arad. Yael Arad said at the ceremony: “Taekwondo has made a very big leap this year and has a great future. We really like martial arts in Israel and with the successes of Avishag and the other athletes I have no doubt that you can be a major Olympic sport. “This year we will commemorate the murder of 11 Munich victims in several events. We grew up on their legacy and if this heinous murder had not taken place the development of Israeli sports would have been much greater.”
