The first official contestant of Operación Triunfo 2023 is from Biscay and his name is Martin Urrutia. This young man from Getxo, only 18 years old, gave an exceptional performance in his television debut. So much so that he moved Noemi Galera herself and the rest of the academy professors who were present on stage.
He received the golden pass from Galera and his team. They had only had six performances but they were enough for them to name Urrutia as the first official contestant of the program. Martin’s surprised face was indescribable.
Martin Urrutia will be one of the youngest of the academy. This 18-year-old young man lives in Las Arenas (Getxo) and is still studying. Once he finishes his time at the academy, Dantzerti, the Higher School of Dramatic Art and Dance of Euskadi, awaits him. His file has been accepted after taking the selectivity last June. Previously, Urrutia successfully completed the performing arts baccalaureate in Bilbao.
But he will combine his dream of being a great dancer with music, “his great passion.” This young man from Biscay considers himself “a lover of the arts.” He is about to fulfill his “dream” if he finally enters the academy along with the other 15 contestants. Because from the first gala – called gala 0 – two will fall from the list of ‘triumphs’.
For Urrutia it is important not to be one of them because of “the issue of studying music in an academy and abstracting myself from everything.” He wants to isolate himself from the outside world in order to “be with my classmates and teachers, and think about songs and train myself as an artist.”
Having just come of age, Urrutia was finally able to take the step of appearing for the casting of Operación Triunfo. She had been thinking about it for three years, when the arts bug began to bite her.
Historic OT debut
Martin Urrutia can say that he is part of the history of OT and streaming platforms in Spain. Yesterday Amazon became the first of these platforms to broadcast a live program in Spain. It was his debut because he promises to do it every Monday with Operación Triunfo as his reality star.
