On Saturday, Miss Nicaragua, Sheynnis Palacios, was crowned Miss Universe 2023, in the 72nd edition of the pageant.

Palacios wore a design by Venezuelan Nidal Nouaihed, on the gala dress catwalk, which took her to the crown among 84 participants, inspired by the flag of Nicaragua and made in the city of Maracaibo, where the fashion designer resides.
The Venezuelan fashion designer has had an extensive career, dressing at least 50 beauty queens, including the first Miss Universe finalist, Amanda Dudamel, and dedicating himself with greater emphasis to wedding outfits.
The connection between Miss Universe and Nidal Nouaihed was born in a photo session in which Sheynnis Palacio directly asked the Venezuelan fashion designer to dress her on the most important catwalk of the international pageant.
The dress was designed and made in 21 days and there was no time for Sheynnis to try it on before the pageant.
