The Minister of Sports, Benoît DATO was, after this Monday, November 20, 2023, before the Finance Committee of the National Assembly to present the main orientations of the 2024 draft budget of his sectoral ministry. This draft budget is oriented towards training, the revelation of our young talents and the construction of sports infrastructures dedicated to the influence of all the disciplines supported by the sports sector. For the 2024 financial year, the budget of the Ministry of Sports records an increase of 33.06%. It increases from 32,918,303,000 FCFA in 2023 to an amount of 43,801,955,000 F CFA; this is also justified by an increase in capital expenditure which experienced an increase of 7,883,652,000 CFA francs in 2024, i.e. 31.64% compared to 2023, and ordinary expenditure of the order of 37.55%, relating to the inclusion of the sports tax of 3,000,000,000 CFA francs in the ministry’s budget.
2024 will essentially be the pivotal year for the implementation of reforms relating to: the establishment of DTNs; certification training for coaches, referees and other technical executives from sports federations and training centers; the establishment of a consultation framework with federations for the more effective and efficient management of sporting activities; training and capacity building of sports supervisors for the performance of the sports class program; better consideration of national teams from other sports disciplines. Given the importance of these projects, the members of the Budget Commission thanked Minister DATO for the clarity of his presentation and the projections for 2024.
