The Canarian video game development studio PlayMedusa collaborates, for the fifth consecutive year, with the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival City of La Laguna Calavera Islandcreating the video game ‘Kong & Little Miss Wray‘, based on the leitmotif of the event that is being held in Tenerife from November 10 to 19. On this occasion, and on the occasion of the King Kong Day which closes the Festival, PlayMedusa takes as a reference the final scene of the 1933 film by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack in which Kong is shot down by the biplanes of the North American army. Thanks to the player, this time the legendary giant gorilla will be able to save his life.

In the video game, the user controls little Miss Wray’s toy plane (a nod to the actress from the first film in which the gorilla appeared, Fay Wray). Using toy weaponry (a boxing fist, dynamite hanging from a balloon, a Tesla tower and an anvil approved by Wile E. Coyote), the player will be able to attract the attention of the airships that attack Kong, who is tired of being shot in New York, Tenerife has come to climb the emblematic Torre de la Concepción in the historic center of the city of La Laguna.

Kong & Little Miss Wray‘ Is available in https://playmedusa.itch.io/kong-and-little-miss-wraand to play online on PC, mobile phones and tablets, without the need for installation, and for free. The game features footage from the original film and can be completed in about ten minutes.

In previous editions, PlayMedusa has developed other fun video games for the Skull Island Festival such as ‘An American werewolf in L.A.’, ‘Titans came from the Ray’ o ‘Bestboy’s Adventure’.

King Kong Day

As a final touch to the seventh edition of the Festival, Sunday, November 19, will be the King Kong Day and will be completely dedicated to the legendary giant gorilla of Skull Island, which celebrates its 90th anniversary this year. The proposal consists of a marathon of screenings that will begin with the classic directed by Merian C. Cooper and Ernest B. Schoedsack, and with Fay Wray, Robert Armstrong and Bruce Cabot in the cast. The show will continue with John Guillermin’s 1976 adaptation, starring Jessica Lange (Golden Globe for Best New Actress for her performance) and Jeff Bridges. Peter Jackson’s ‘King Kong’, with a budget of more than $200 million, will close the triple bill.

The tribute to King Kong is completed with the exhibition ‘Kong Universe: 90 years of the giant ape‘, the presentation of ‘King Kong. The 90th anniversary book‘ by Jesús Palacios, who has just seen the light and launch of ‘The Great Gorilla‘, the new volume of the ‘Chronicles of the Black Lagoon‘, the youth series of novels written by Víctor Conde, inspired by the Canary Islands Fantastic Film Festival Ciudad de La Laguna Calavera Island.
