The alleged purchase of PP votes in the last May elections denounced by the PSOE, which would be reduced to a montage, has already had its first consequences. At the moment, two people have been arrested. In the PSOE complaint, two councilors from the blue party and members of the PP candidacy for the Mayor of Jaén were pointed out as supposedly responsible for the plot.

The first arrest occurred 15 days ago and the last one last week. The detainees are free with charges as alleged perpetrators of an electoral crime, to whom the judge has imposed the obligation to appear in court on the 1st and 15th of each month. Although the complaint was initially filed, the socialists requested the reopening in October by requesting tests not carried out until now, such as the scanning of the phones of the two councilors.

Given the controversy generated, the mayor of Jaén, Agustín González (PP), asked this Tuesday the general secretary of the local PSOE and spokesperson for the PSOE in the City Council, Julio Millán, to “not throw the ball away” and to provide a response to the complaint .

Agustín González appeared urgently. He alluded to the night of the day of reflection prior to the last municipal elections, which was when the news broke of the alleged purchase of votes by the PP in the capital of Jaén. At that time, immediately afterwards, different local media echoed the complaint in which two popular councilors, Antonio Losa and Manuel Losa, were targeted. “Two professionals, two politicians, two children, in short, two honest people who see at that moment how their name, their professionalism and their reputation are tarnished,” the mayor highlighted, while speaking of “pettiness” for ” totally unfounded news.”

According to the first mayor, and after the police report published by different media, the PSOE complaint “represented a manipulation of public opinion in a short space of time that undoubtedly affected the electoral result”, in addition to “seriously damaging personal reputation, professional and political of both Antonio Losa and Manuel Palomares”.

“The police expose the alleged purchase of votes”

In his statements, the mayor alludes to the “always neat, always objective work, with a single purpose which is to find the truth” of the police, after learning of different information published by some media in which it is suggested that ‘the police strip the alleged purchase of votes’ and concludes that ‘it was a setup by a colleague of the PSOE candidate’.

“A setup was perpetrated that attempted to manipulate public opinion”

“Today I feel shame and embarrassment, but above all indignation,” said the mayor while emphasizing that on the night of the day of reflection “a montage was perpetrated in which an attempt was made to manipulate public opinion, affecting municipal elections.” and what is more serious, as I said before, the name and reputation of two innocent people was slandered, defiled, falsified and insulted.”

“From here I ask Mr. Millán that it is time to give answers, to stop passing judgment, to stop blaming others and to be aware that facts and decisions have consequences and that it is time to be consistent and transparent,” the mayor stressed.
