Primark has opened its 60th store in Spain, located in the city of Lorca (Murcia), as part of its commitment to invest 100 million euros in the Spanish market, of which 80 million are for the opening of eight stores, in addition to an expansion, and the other 20 million for improvements and renovations of establishments.

Specifically, the Lorca store has cost 6 million euros and represents “an important milestone in the company’s extensive expansion plans in Spain”, where It opened its first store in 2006, in the Plenilunio Shopping Center in Madrid.

The one in Lorca is the fourth of the eight new stores that the Irish brand plans to open, after the opening of Toledo Luz del Tajo, Open Mall Lanzarote and Melilla, in addition to the expansion of the Diagonal Mar store in Barcelona. At the same time, Primark will open four more establishments next year: one in the Jaén Plaza shopping center, and another three in the Community of Madrid (La Vaguada, Alcalá Magna and Calle del Conde de Peñalver).

‘Primark Cares’

In a statement, the multinational recalled that it has been working for more than a decade to become a more sustainable company. With this objective, in 2021 it announced its ‘Primark Cares’ strategy, which establishes its commitments to manufacture more sustainable products available to everyone.

So, 50% of Primark clothing is already made with recycled or more sustainably sourced materials and the company has committed to doubling this figure by 2030.
