Director Vaclav Vorlicek chose the baroque castle on the water Moritzburg near Dresden, one of the most popular architectural attractions in Saxony, as the fairy-tale palace for Three Nuts for Cinderella.

The castle was founded in the middle of the 16th century on the orders of the then Saxon ruler, Elector Moritz (Moritz von Sachsen). It acquired its current appearance in the Baroque era at the beginning of the 18th century – during the time of August the Strong (August der Starke).
