BREED NUMFOR – Main Director of Bulog, Budi Waseso or Buwas, said that his party had already prepared it rice stock for food aid or social assistance or rice social assistance 10 kilograms (kg). Until now the supply of rice Logistics reached 1.6 million tonnes.
“In accordance with the President’s direction, we have prepared the rice stock. The stock currently controlled by Bulog is 1.6 million tonnes,” explained Buwas.
Apart from that, Bulog is also tasked with increasing rice imports to strengthen the supply of government rice reserves (CBP). As for the Biak Numfor Regency area as a whole, the total distribution of Food Aid Rice per month was 242,130 kg which was distributed to 24,213 KPM.
It was confirmed that the 10 kilogram (kg) social assistance for 21.35 million Beneficiary Families (KPM) was extended until March 2024. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said that food assistance would be the government’s priority.
This statement was made by the Head of State on the sidelines of distributing the second phase of 10 kg rice social assistance to 1,000 beneficiaries at the Bulog Mandala Warehouse, Biak Numfor, Papua, Wednesday (22/11/2023).
The President emphasized that he would continue the food aid program for the period December 2023 and January, February, March 2024. According to him, this program was effective in reducing fluctuations in rice prices that occurred as a result of El Nino.
“For phase I yesterday, food aid rice was distributed by Bulog in March, April and May, then continued with phase II for September, October and today it is distributed for November,” said Jokowi in a press statement, Thursday (23/11/ 2023).
“To maintain stability in the price of rice on the market, we will increase it for December 2023 and January, February, March 2024,” he continued.
The President said that the distribution of rice social assistance is a priority program for the government, apart from Supply and Price Stabilization (SPHP) or market operations carried out by Bulog.
