ZwangerWijzer Website Gets Complete Makeover, Offers Tailored Advice for Prospective Parents

The ZwangerWijzer website has undergone a complete overhaul, according to the College Perinatal Care (CPZ). Prospective parents are now able to complete an online questionnaire to gain insight into any potential risks for themselves, the pregnancy, or the baby and receive tailored advice based on their responses. This information can then be taken to a consultation with healthcare providers. The CPZ reports that healthcare providers can also use ZwangerWijzer to offer advice before and during pregnancy.

The online questionnaire provides a comprehensive risk screening in various domains including lifestyle, family and origin, work and home, diseases, medicines and vaccinations, previous pregnancy, and feelings and experiences. Project leader Elsbeth van Vliet explains that ZwangerWijzer is scientifically validated and based on guidelines, developed with input from a multidisciplinary editorial board and external experts. Over 50,000 people complete the questionnaire each year, providing valuable data for research into preconception health.

With the update, all questions, risk messages, and informational texts have been revised, expanded, and made more user-friendly. The number of modules has been increased and the website has been made more inclusive to ensure that everyone can relate to the questions and information.

Erasmus MC and Perined manage ZwangerWijzer, which aims to provide valuable information and support for those looking to start a family. The updated website is expected to offer even more personalized and helpful advice for prospective parents.
