In November 2013Xbox launched ‘Killer Instinct’, a new version of Rare’s classic fighting game that came out in 1994. The return of the saga was led by Iron Galaxy Studios y Double Helix Gameswho throughout three seasons kept in force what made the series popular at the time with its classic combo system.
Despite the good reviews, the lack of content was one of the negative points that stood out the most, and although characters were launched – including guests – Killer Instinct began to fall far behind its competitors. Since then, we have not heard anything more about the saga, although Microsoft always hinted that it had not forgotten the IP.
Taking advantage of the fact that this past November 22 marked 10 years since the launch of the game, Xbox revealed an anniversary edition that will go on sale very soon that will replace the definitive edition that is available in Xbox y PC. This edition will have the 29 fighters, along with premium content such as double experience, themed accessories and more.
However, the most striking thing about the 10th anniversary of Killer Instinct is that there will be a version free-to-play (free) with a fighter who will rotate every week. Players will be able to access single-player, local and competitive modes. Xbox had already made a similar move when they launched the title, although that time it was classified as a kind of demo.
