In his speech at the Parliament, Minister of Internal Affairs Dursun Oğuz shared the number of foreigners who bought property in the country with the decision of the Council of Ministers in the last 5 years. Minister Oğuz stated that very few of the purchased properties were deeded and that this was a big problem. Oğuz explained that legal studies are being completed to solve the problem of foreigners owning property.
Minister of Internal Affairs Dursun Oğuz said that the Contractors Union and the ministry team are working and the legal work has come to an end. Oğuz, who informed that they will send the work done to the Prosecutor’s Office, continued as follows:
“We also continued the work of our previous minister. We have determined a framework regarding the purchase of goods by foreigners and we will ask the prosecutor’s office about this. In the last 5 years, 14 thousand 607 decisions were made by the council of ministers. The amount that went to the title deed was 5 thousand 375. We have approved approximately 35 thousand property sales with the decision of the Council of Ministers in the last 23 years. “Only 6-7 thousand of them went to the land registry.”

We will give 6 months

Stating that it is a separate problem that the sold goods do not go to the title deed, Oğuz said, “In the law we have prepared, they will be given a period of 6 months and if the title deed is not registered, the sales decisions of the Council of Ministers will be annulled.”

“We will ban the build-sell business of foreigners”

Explaining that regulations will be made regarding foreign companies, Oğuz said, “We will prevent foreigners from entering the build-and-sell business. “There will be legal regulations according to the opinion of the prosecutor’s office,” he said. Oğuz, who informed that there have been many meetings with the sector, noted that they also had meetings with real estate agents and that they are working on legislation on that issue.

“There is a feeling that those who bought 30 goods”

Reminding that the purchase of goods by foreigners was brought to the agenda in the budget commission discussions in Turkey and that there were news about the purchase of property by foreigners published in The Guardian newspaper, Dursun Oğuz said, “There is also a security problem regarding contracts. There is no such security screening in contract sales, it is a big problem. A foreigner can legally buy property. What will happen to the extra properties he bought? We are also working on this. There will be a legalization process. There are rumors of 10-20-30 purchasing of goods, this is actually the reality of the country. “These will be closed as well, and what needs to be done to prevent this from happening in the future is being done right now,” he said.

Agricultural lands will be protected
Minister Oğuz stated that due to the increase in the prices of land on the coastline, construction has shifted to Mesarya and that this place serves agriculture as the largest plain. “Companies are now interested in Mesarya… Because it is cheaper here. “We are working on the protection of agricultural areas,” said Oğuz, stating that they are faced with a concentration process in Geçitkale, Drötyol and Balıkesir, and that they are working on this issue together with the Contractors Association and the City Planning Department.
