Rescue Mission Continues for 41 Workers Trapped in Silkyara Tunnel
Dehradun: The rescue mission is ongoing to bring out 41 workers who are trapped inside the Silkyara tunnel under construction in Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand after it collapsed. However, drilling efforts have been hampered by technical difficulties with the auger machine.
The drilling, which was initially halted due to a technical fault, was announced to resume on Friday evening. Unfortunately, the drilling has been stopped again due to failure to resolve the problem, with only 12 meters left to be drilled out of 60 meters.
Despite the tireless efforts, there has been little progress in the rescue operation since Thursday. It was announced that the drilling work will resume later today, but the obstacle was encountered again. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has warned against misleading the public, stating that it is not possible to predict when the rescue operation will be completed.
In a video posted by ANI on Twitter, the NDRF can be seen demonstrating the movement of wheeled stretchers through the pipeline, which will be used for the rescue of the trapped workers. The plan is to dig through the concrete debris and pass a wide pipe to get the workers out. The workers will be carried out one by one through the pipe on a wheeled stretcher.
Medical teams and ambulances are on standby outside the tunnel to transport the workers to hospitals as soon as they are brought out.
Since the collapse of the tunnel on November 12, the trapped workers have been constantly contacted and given food and water through a tube. Their health status is also being continuously monitored.
The rescue mission continues to be a challenging and complex operation, but efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety and well-being of the trapped workers.
