Black Friday Chaos at Wrentham Outlets

Wrentham, Massachusetts – Wrentham Police Chief Bill McGrath is warning shoppers of significant delays and urging them to avoid the Wrentham Outlets this Black Friday afternoon.

In a tweet just before 5 p.m., McGrath wrote, “STOP. IF YOU ARE TRYING TO DRIVE TO THE #WRENTHAMOUTLETS, DO NOT BOTHER. THEY WILL BE CLOSED BEFORE YOU CAN GET THROUGH TRAFFIC. WAITS EXCEED THREE HOURS. 495 AND SURROUNDING ROADS ARE JAMMED. TRY ANOTHER DAY.”

With the Wrentham Outlets scheduled to close at 9 p.m., McGrath had previously warned of hours-long delays throughout the day. Traffic reports indicated backup of at least an hour earlier in the day, with McGrath telling WJAR that the traffic was “definitely” worse than last year.

“We can never predict how this place goes,” he said. “And we are always shocked that we don’t have far more road rage incidents and crashes than we do.”

The sheer volume of traffic prompted police to block off some local streets to prevent motorists from driving through neighborhoods.

As Black Friday traffic continues to surge, McGrath’s warning is clear – shoppers should steer clear of the Wrentham Outlets.
