Microsoft Resolves Long-standing Windows 11 Bug Affecting AMD GPU Settings

Amman – Microsoft has finally addressed a persistent issue in Windows 11 that caused AMD GPU settings to reset on every reboot. The tech giant has rolled out the November patch KB5032190, which fixes the bug and ensures that the operating system will no longer reset custom GPU settings to default values after the installation of the patch.

The problem was first reported by users on September 26, who noticed that Windows 11 was automatically resetting custom settings for AMD GPUs with each reboot. This posed a major inconvenience for users who had configured specific settings for their AMD graphics cards.

With the rollout of the November 2023 patch for Windows 11 versions 23H2 and 22H2, Microsoft has effectively resolved the compatibility issues with AMD systems. As a result, Windows 11 now properly retains AMD’s settings preferences, preventing users from losing their customization or performance-related settings with every reboot.

Users have reported experiencing improvements when using Adrenalin version 23.10.2 or later with Windows 11 after installing the November patch KB5032190. Microsoft is also making this patch available to Windows 11 (23H2) via the Media Creation Tool.

However, some users have pointed out that the Windows Update does not resolve the problem for everyone. A few users are still facing the frustrating issue of resetting AMD settings, despite the update. In such cases, the problem may be related to another reason and not directly attributed to the Windows 11 Update.

Interestingly, the November patch KB5032190 has also introduced new problems, including a bug that causes systems to freeze upon reboot. Some users have reported that their systems fail to apply the update during installation and continue to fail upon reboot.

One user commented, “Last week my device started having problems rebooting for some inexplicable reason; it fails to load the operating system and the screen displays a Windows restart problem. Safe mode works, although the problem detection tools did not find any issue, and I discovered that uninstalling the latest update allowed the device to work again.”

Another user confirmed that Windows 11 causes a few reboots before rolling back the update.

Microsoft has acknowledged these issues in a support document and assured users that it is working on a new update for Windows, which will be released in the coming months to address these problems.

The rollout of the November patch KB5032190 signifies a major step forward in resolving the long-standing bug affecting AMD GPU settings on Windows 11. While users have reported some new challenges, Microsoft’s commitment to addressing these issues demonstrates its dedication to delivering a seamless user experience.
