Cléopâtre Darleux gave her news in October via her social networks. “I still have symptoms during exercise, so for the moment I only do cardio… The goal is to increase the intensity each week if there is no increase in symptoms.”

Player of Brest Bretagne Handball (BBH), the 34-year-old goalkeeper is in a long recovery process after a ball received in the head last December, almost a year ago, last December while the blues faced the formidable team Norwegian.

The French international played again for a few weeks before finally stopping as announced by her club in February 2023 due to a concussion.

Darleux has always been at a standstill. In an interview with The Team this Wednesday, November 23, she said she was wondering “Am I going to start again?” ”, rather than “When I will start again”.

“I tell myself that it can still happen, that I want to try everything. »

According to our colleagues, the Olympic champion is surrounded by several doctors and is struggling to get back into play. She is holding on for the 2024 Olympics but is also aware that her health must take precedence. However, she doesn’t say to herself that it’s time to say stop. “But I ask myself the question: isn’t it better to just rest rather than always trying and going in circles? I also ask myself the question: is it possible to be able to resume or not? Because it’s starting to get very long. When I don’t do anything, things get better. It’s rather positive. But to do high-level sport, you have to be on point in terms of cardio, but that wasn’t progressing three weeks ago. So, I resumed the protocol at level 1: twenty minutes at 80% of my maximum. Not bad. If things are better tomorrow, I’ll do 30 minutes, at 85%. »

“I tell myself that it can still happen, that I want to try everything. It’s not possible to say stop just yet. Ultimately take a break, a vacation, because I’ve never stopped since I’ve been off work. I’ve always tried things. »

The European vice-champion three years ago and world vice-champion in 2021 is trying to keep hope alive. She recently admitted that she had hoped to be on the field alongside her team for the World Cup which will be held in Scandinavia next week. “It was a goal. Even until recently, I told myself that I might be able to participate,” says the BBH player. But it is without her that the French women’s handball team is playing the first of its preparation matches against Senegal this Friday.

The goalkeeper, who began her international career with Les Bleues in 2008, has set herself a deadline of “March, April”, in the hope of having a chance to participate in the Olympic Games in Paris.
