SÃO PAULO (Reuters) – The Board of Directors of Eletrobras (BVMF:) proposed to the electric company’s shareholders the incorporation of the subsidiary Furnas, which will be decided at a meeting on December 29, according to a relevant fact this Saturday.
“The incorporation of Furnas represents an essential step in the corporate reorganization of Eletrobras as foreseen in the strategic plan,” said the company.
If the merger is approved by shareholders, its implementation will still be subject to the completion of certain precedent conditions, said Eletrobras, without elaborating.
Eletrobras had stated in August that it had begun studies for the incorporation of Furnas.
