Uncontrolled joy can sometimes lead to the police. This is the bitter experience that Nenê experienced on Saturday during the match between his Juventudine team and Ceara, during the 38th and final day of Brazilian Serie B. On the pitch, the club of the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder won 3-2, thus validating its ticket for the first division next season. Nenê watched the match from the stands.
Everything was going normally in the stands, until Juventudine’s second goal. Carried away by his euphoria, the Brazilian, sitting in a box at the Presidente Vargas stadium, celebrated the action by hitting the glass that separated him from a neighboring stand, until it exploded.
After breaking the glass of the PV during Juventude’s goal celebration, Nenê was taken to the police station and the charges were of bodily injury and damage to public property.

On the other side were the wife of Chrystian Barletta, striker of the opposing team, and his 4-year-old son. Although the child was not hit, the young woman received broken glass which slightly cut her face and hand. “A player of this level should not have such an infantile reaction,” she subsequently reacted. Under boos from the stands, Nenê ended up being taken to the local police station by the police.
At 42, the former Parisian still weighs on his team’s results. Author of 7 goals and 7 assists in 28 matches, the Brazilian midfielder could see himself playing one more season, and what’s more, in the elite of his national championship.
