Sweden Democrats’ politician Jonathan Sager demands Drag Queen to leave country during internal justice policy debate
During the Sweden Democrats’ country days in Västerås, SD politician Jonathan Sager made a controversial statement demanding a drag artist to leave the country. Sager directed his statement specifically at a drag queen known as “Shameless Whore” during an internal justice policy debate. The Sweden Democrats’ convention took place in Västerås and the party was set to discuss various proposals for new policies related to law and order.
Jonathan Sager has been pushing for mandatory age restrictions against the participation of minors at events featuring drag queens. He accused the drag queen of reading inappropriate fairy tales to children and stated that the “culture war is not over until the drag queen is out of the country”. However, he did clarify that the name “Shameless Whore” is used during adult events while a different name is used during children’s storytimes.
In response to the motion, the party board expressed concerns about children being exposed to inappropriate sexual content. They also emphasized the need to specify the age restrictions regarding events where minors may be present.
When questioned by Aftonbladet, Jonathan Sager declined to offer an interview, instead providing a written comment. There has been widespread criticism of Sager’s remarks, which has sparked controversy and debate surrounding freedom of expression and LGBTQ rights in Sweden.
