This time, everything went without a hitch. On the third day of a truce in fighting in Gaza, 17 hostages were released by Hamas and handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Among them are 14 Israelis: 9 children and 4 women and a man, according to information from the Israeli press and the Hostage Families Forum. The man also has Russian nationality and was released under an agreement between Hamas and Moscow. Three Thais were also released this Sunday.

40 Israeli hostages have been released by Hamas since Friday, out of some 50 provided for in the truce agreement with Israel which extends until Monday inclusive. This brings to 58 the total number of hostages released since Friday, including 18, the vast majority Thais, not affected by the agreement. At the same time, 39 new Palestinian prisoners were released by Israel, a number similar to Friday and Saturday.

If the identities of the foreign hostages have not been communicated, those of the Israeli hostages are well known.

In spite of itself, it represents the barbarity of the events of October 7. Abducted near Kibbutz Kfar Gaza, this 4-year-old girl celebrated her birthday while she was hostage in the Gaza Strip. Both of his parents were murdered during the Hamas attack. His two big brothers survived, hidden in a cupboard.

To escape the terrorists, Abigal decides to flee her parental home. She finally took refuge in the home of the Brodetz family, with whom she was kidnapped.

Abigail Idan holds dual Israeli and American citizenship. “She is free and she is in Israel,” responded American President Joe Biden this Sunday evening.
