As was noted at the beginning of the event, “Fashionable Crossroads” is not only a competition, it is a platform for the exchange of experiences, a platform for the presentation of creative finds of peers in the field of modeling and tailoring.

It all started with the defense of competitive works in the “Sketch Design” category. Projects of clothing collections were presented, which in the future, perhaps, will come to life not only on paper, but will become trends in the fashion world. During the flight, the imagination of the contestants was not limited. And the sources of inspiration were completely different things. It could be flowers, natural phenomena, or Belarusian culture…

An impartial jury headed by the director of the Center for Additional Education for Children and Youth, Yulia Glebik, evaluated the work, praised and constructively criticized the participants. Lyudmila Lyasnik, a designer and technologist at the FashionFix studio, Victoria Gelasimova, a designer and illustrator at the Neiltex company, Daria Samodayeva, a fashion designer and graduate of the exemplary studio Keratin, and Ekaterina Tikhonova, a fashion designer at a clothing company, also assessed the creativity of aspiring clothing designers with a professional eye. “Nelva”

Ksenia Uglyanitsa, a student of Brest school N7, was the first to demonstrate her collection called “Viol” to the judges’ attention. The girl said that when coming up with outfits, she was inspired by the beauty of violet flowers on her windowsill. She was fascinated by the delicate flowers flaunting against the background of transparent tulle.

“I decided to add a light color scheme and contrasting black to give the images a bright accent. This adds contrast to the products, which will allow girls to stand out from the crowd,” the author shared.

In a conversation with the jury, the girl admitted that for now she decided to stop at the sketch stage. However, the judges recommended going further, but carefully thinking about the combination of fabrics and paying attention to the selection of accessories.

By the way, the panel of judges emphasized that young fashion designers should not limit their imagination to a sketch on paper, but could have a good idea of how the sketch would look in real life.

Anna Grinevich, a student at secondary school N17, introduced the audience to an interesting project. Her clothing collection “Karagod Rodu” is based on the motifs of the Belarusian national ornament. The designer set herself the task of incorporating ornamental elements into a modern clothing style, making traditional motifs part of the youth image.

According to the idea, the dominant colors in the outfits are black, red and white. Each of them is interpreted differently. At the stage of sewing the collection, the girl plans to stick to natural fabrics such as cotton, linen, leather, and silk. However, chiffon, eco-leather and other materials popular today will also become organic elements of future sundresses, dresses and skirts.

“It’s important to me that these things can be worn in everyday life.” And since the favorite color among teenagers and young people is now black, I made it one of the main ones. The red ornament will be applied by printing or embroidery,” says Anna, demonstrating her sketches. The author plans to finish the collection next year.

The jury recommended that Anna add asymmetry to the arrangement of pattern elements, play with shapes and placement of prints, enlarge the fragments of the pattern that are planned to be emphasized…

The bright, or rather flickering, moment of the project presentations was the collection with the telling title “Twinkle of the Moon”. Alexandra Lozovik from Gymnasium N6 incorporated the beauty of the lunar phases into fashionable wardrobe items.

The girl plans to implement the sketches using linen, satin, silk and other light fabrics. The collection is designed to attract attention to the beauty of the female form. Clear lines and large details are associated with the waxing moon. And the cherished moonlight will be conveyed through bright accessories.

— My mother has her own clothing brand. I draw and she sews. My ideas are not easy to implement due to the complexity of the idea. Therefore, my mother takes individual elements from my sketches that become key accents. And we would like to make this collection in the near future,” Alexandra shares her plans.

This was followed by a competitive show in the “Top Model” and “Show of Collections” categories.

The participants were awarded diplomas from the education department of the Brest City Executive Committee and memorable prizes from the Brest local charitable foundation “New Generation”. Each of the projects distinguished itself in one category or another, winning the attention of viewers. This once again proves that every creator, even a beginner, is talented in his own way. And the task of the expert, whose role was played by the jury of the fashion event, is to identify the strengths of each artist, supporting his desire to fill this world with beauty.

While the contestants were preparing for the creative fashion show, and the jury was deciding whose ideas and projects would be the brightest, guests could see the exhibition of photographs “Fashionable Crossroads in the Lens”, which decorated the foyer of the center. For the first time, the works of both students and teachers themselves were presented here.
