This time everything went as planned. Seventeen hostages were released by Hamas this Sunday afternoon, the day after the terrorist movement’s coup which almost ended the truce agreement concluded with Israel. Fourteen of them are Israeli, including nine children and four women. Added to this is Roni Krivoi (25), a Russian-Israeli released as part of a separate agreement between Hamas and Moscow. Three Thais were also released. In exchange, 39 Palestinian detainees were released from Israeli prisons.

Among the hostages released on Sunday – from seven families – is Abigail Idan (4 years old), American-Israeli. Her parents were murdered “in front of her” during the October 7 attack, according to the White House. Alva Avraham, 84, was transported by helicopter to an Israeli hospital upon leaving the Gaza Strip. According to several Israeli media including TimeHis days are endangered.

This Monday, a new round of releases is planned. The last ? Maybe not. Late this Sunday afternoon, a source close to Hamas indicated that the terrorist movement was ready to extend the truce by “two to four days”. However, according to the agreement concluded with Israel, ten additional hostages must be released per additional day of break.

Joe Biden said he was in favor of it, referring to the extension of the truce as an “objective”. This would allow “to see other hostages released and more humanitarian aid” delivered to the Gaza Strip, he said.

“We are in fear”

On the French side, Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna also called on BFMTV for “a continuation of the truce” so that “other liberations, day after day, can take place”. No French national has in fact been released by Hamas since the first releases on Friday.

Three minor French nationals are however likely to be, even if no information has leaked on this subject. They are Erez Kalderon, 12, his sister Sahar, 16, and Eitan Yahalomi, 12. “We are hopeful that we will have hostages released” by Tuesday, continued Catherine Colonna.

“I try to do my best not to lose hope,” reacted to the Parisian Tse’era, the cousin of Ohad, Eitan’s father, after seeing that the latter had not been released this Sunday. “We are impatiently waiting for Eitan,” confides Deborah, the child’s aunt, who says she is going through a “set of emotions”. “I am happy for the families of the released hostages, it is very moving to see these people return to Israel,” she explains. And at the same time I’m afraid because it’s monsters who are holding Eitan back…”

Shortly before, Jocelyne, the child’s grandmother, said she was “not able to speak”. “We are in fear for Eitan,” she simply testified by message.

Marie-Pascale Radoux says she has “an emotional blockage in order to move forward”. She is the mother of Orión Hernández Radoux, a 32-year-old Franco-Mexican. “I suspected that the first released would be children, women, the injured, that’s normal,” she testifies. “My greatest wish is that Orion will be part of this first negotiation, but we hope that there will be others in the future,” she continues to hope.
