For 15 years, friends Ângela and Anastácia have had a fruit and vegetable stand on Rua Teodomiro Serra, in Jardim Seminário, where they always serve customers on Sundays. Today, the work was interrupted by the flood, which ran down the road, carrying crates with the products.

The stall was not lost only thanks to the “warriors”, said Anastácia Florentino, 59 years old, referring to her two children, who helped them during the storm. She still doesn’t know how much she lost, but says that a crate of bananas was washed away in the flood.

“If it weren’t for them, we would have rolled together”, said Anastácia, who cried from the shock and loss. She says she was surprised by the rain that quickly ran down the street and didn’t even have time to remove anything. Angela said that the water reached her waist and said that the two clung to the tent to save their livelihood. Anastácia’s children ran to the scene, precisely to help them.

Ângela and Anastácia were quite shaken and, even though they managed to save the stall and several products, they decided to end the day early. But they assured that they will return to work next week. “The damage is the least of it, the problem was desperation.”
