BENI – Two dead and several injured alongside several missing, this is the result of a new incursion by ADF rebels into the village of Kombo in the chiefdom of Watalinga (North Kivu).
According to civil society sources in the Batalinga group, until this Sunday, searches continued because there were fears that the toll would rise.
This information is confirmed by military sources. In a dispatch published by the FARDC spokesperson in the Sokola 1 operational sector, the Armed Forces of the DRC managed to narrowly save 4 compatriots that same night from Saturday to Sunday, November 26, 2023.
Apparently MTM Islamist terrorists wanted to commit a massacre similar to that of Kitchanga. They also wanted to stock up on pharmaceutical products. Captain Antony Mwalushayi adds that these Islamist terrorists were quickly spotted by the FARDC, just at the start of their carnage. Four compatriots, who were already injured by machete blows, were taken to a health facility.
Captain Mwalushayi confirms the toll of two dead bodies of compatriots, all pharmacy owners, who were discovered. He reassures that one more force was detached to this village to secure the population while another went in pursuit of the enemy who fled towards Boga in the province of Ituri.
