India’s milk and egg production sees a significant increase in 2022-2023
New Delhi: The central government announced that India’s milk production has seen a surge of almost four per cent to 23.06 crore tonnes in the last financial year 2022-23. Additionally, egg production has also seen a notable increase of seven per cent to 13,838 crore during the same period.
Union Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Minister Parshotham Rupala shared, “In the last financial year 2022-23, the total milk production of the country is estimated at 23.06 crore tonnes, registering a growth of 3.83 percent over the previous year.”
In terms of milk production, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the leading state with 15.72 percent of the total milk production, followed by Rajasthan, Pradesh, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh.
Egg production in the last financial year was estimated at 13,838 crores, marking a notable increase of 6.77 percent over the previous year. Moreover, wool production also experienced a two percent increase to reach 3.36 crore kg, and meat production rose by five percent to 977 lakh tonnes.
