VIDEO – The 38-year-old Portuguese asked the referee of the Al-Nassr-Persepolis match in the Asian Champions League to cancel a penalty after contact with a defender in the area.
Cristiano Ronaldo distinguished himself with a rare gesture Monday evening, during the meeting between his Saudi club Al-Nassr and the Iranian team Persepolis, in the Asian Champions League. But for once, it’s neither a dribble nor a goal.
The 38-year-old Portuguese showed immense fair play by asking the referee to overturn a penalty. After contact in the area with a Persepolis defender, “CR7” collapsed and the referee designated the penalty spot. Amid strong protests from Iranian players, the five-time Ballon d’Or advanced to the official to tell him that there was no foul.
