What happened to the Vietnamese man?
According to a local mediaa 35-year-old patient in Vietnam who complained of constant headaches surprised medical staff when they discovered the reason for his discomfort.
The man also reported constant secretions and loss of fluids in addition to headaches that directly interfered with his daily activities.
He had initially been diagnosed with tension pneumocephalus, a rare neurological condition, which could have caused the pain.
However, as the symptoms did not improve, they performed a new examination in which they discovered that he had a pair of toothpicks that had entered from his nose to his brain, causing the discomfort.
It was then that the patient remembered that he had been in a fight 5 months ago, so he only remembered that he had been hit in the face with an object that he did not remember.
Although the patient went to the doctor after the fight, they did not find anything abnormal. Fortunately, when the doctors managed to find the pair of toothpicks in the brain, they were able to remove them with endoscopic surgery through the nose.

What is tension pneumocephalus?
The Medical Journal of the General Hospital of Mexico points out that tension pneumocephalus is a rare condition in which there is an accumulation of intracranial air due to intracranial hypertension.
There are two causes that can cause it: an injury, accident or fracture of the base of the skull and the paranasal sinuses or as a result of infections, sinus surgery, eardrum defects or tumors.
