Lifetime Channel Breaks New Ground with “A Cowboy Christmas Romance” Featuring Franchise’s First Sex Scene

Lifetime Channel is breaking the mold this holiday season with their upcoming movie “A Cowboy Christmas Romance,” which will feature the franchise’s first-ever sex scene. The movie, starring Jana Kramer and Adam Senn, is set to debut on December 9 as part of the network’s “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” slate of 12 new movies.

Tia Maggini, SVP of scripted content at Lifetime, exclusively told Variety, “We think that there’s an audience out there that’s hungry for grown-up romance, and we’re looking forward to adding some smolder to the usual holiday sugar and spice. We love trying new things, and we’re excited about this new ‘first’ for us for a holiday movie.”

The movie follows a real estate agent who returns home to Arizona to reclaim land belonging to a rancher. As sparks fly between the two leads, the movie also features elements of family dynamics, making it the perfect Christmas movie.

Kramer teased the steamy scene during a recent episode of iHeartRadio’s “Whine Down” podcast, revealing, “Spoiler alert — he lays me down on some hay, and then we, you know. Obviously, it’s still Lifetime, it’s still family. But it was pushing limits there, too… They didn’t cut anything. I was so happy that they really left it all in there.”

Writer Sarah Drew expressed her satisfaction with how the scene came out, thanking Maggini and explaining that she intentionally included a sexy scene that also remained in the film. Kramer, who has appeared in eight Lifetime movies, emphasized that “A Cowboy Christmas Romance” stands out from her previous work, stating, “We barely mention the word ‘Christmas.’ There’s no gingerbread bake-off, there’s no festival, that town that’s going to hell and you gotta save it. The only thing was, like, [my character] coming back and seeing Adam or his character… Those cozy feelings happen, but it’s all mixed up with real family stuff and identity stuff and relationship stuff.”

The groundbreaking movie is set to provide a new twist on the usual holiday romance fare, and Lifetime viewers are eagerly anticipating its debut.
