238 days before the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, the SNCF is working to ensure the presence of railway workers. After a first meeting on November 23, where the railway company presented its transport plan, management put new “financial support” on the table during a meeting with the unions this Tuesday. The main measure proposed by the HR director, Philippe Bru, concerns a “daily allowance”.

Its amount – “top secret”, slips a union official – amounts, for the moment, to 50 euros gross, or around 30 euros net, “on the days of the events”, specifies a union official, during the period of the Games Olympic and Paralympic Games (JOP), from July 26 to September 8. “This does not satisfy us. We will return to the charge at the start of next year, hoping to obtain more,” warns another. When contacted, SNCF management neither confirmed the amount nor wished to comment.

A new meeting on the subject is scheduled for early January. It will mainly be a question of staff eligible for this famous “daily allowance”. Management issued “no framework and no details” on the railway workers concerned. “It’s actually astonishing. The HR manager keeps telling us that the subject of the Olympics is very urgent, that we must move forward quickly. But at each meeting, we feel that management is not really prepared… tackle this union official. Beyond cash, other important issues have not yet been addressed. »

The delicate question of housing in Île-de-France

In particular that of housing for railway workers in Île-de-France. To succeed in meeting its Ile-de-France transport plan during the Games, with 4,500 more trains and the 300 additional drivers needed, the railway company wants to transfer staff in the region to the Transiliens. “But they may not be able to go home every night. However, hotel prices in the Paris region will explode. There is compensation, already in place, for accommodation but it will not be sufficient, notes this trade unionist. Management must find a solution. »

Other measures, particularly concerning childcare, supplement the “daily allowance”. “Management will pay more money to the joint body (the works council) so that it has the means to offer solutions to parents, such as summer camps,” specifies this same union official. Here again, the details remain to be worked out.

This package of proposals is in addition to those formulated last May, concerning leave. They included the redemption of RTT increased by 25 or 40% or the doubling of the daily allowance (from 11.38 to 22.76 euros) to take leave in a period of “less need”, weeks of the year ( defined in advance) where train attendance decreases.
