Karabakh University is established in Khankendi

President Ilham Aliyev signed the order “On the establishment of Karabakh University”.

According to the order, a public legal entity “Karabakh University” is established under the Ministry of Science and Education of Azerbaijan on the basis of the higher educational institution located in Khankendi.

The tradition of higher education has historically existed in the Karabakh region. The first higher education institution was established here in 1969 as a branch of the Azerbaijan Pedagogical Institute, it operated as a higher education institution from 1973 to 1988, and it stopped operating during the occupation of the territories.
