What capacity does art have to influence and dialogue with reality? To what extent artists are capable of entering the most hidden areas of a reality that can become terrible, cruel and even bloodthirsty. From that base the sample has been assembled The great fable of capital, as Valentín Roma, curator of the exhibition, explains to elDiario.es hours before the opening. It brings together a total of 22 works and objects, 16 short films by seven artists of different nationalities. The Vault Room of the CondeDuque center (Madrid) hosts the exhibition from December 1 until April 2024.

The creator of the exhibition is the doctor in Art History and Philosophy from the University of Southampton, Valentín Roma, author of the autobiographical trilogy that closes with The symbolic capitalist (Periférica, 2022), a novel in which a former soccer player ends up earning a doctorate in art, which helps Rome reflect on cultural management. In addition, the curator is director of La Virreina Center de la Image in Barcelona. Before assuming that direction, and being chief curator of Macba, he refused to remove a work that represented the sodomized King Juan Carlos. The management demanded his dismissal, so he ended up suing the museum; and winning the trial.
