Several players and members of the management of Stade Français were sanctioned by the Parisian club for leaving without authorization after the defeat at Pau (30-6) on Saturday, the club announced Thursday confirming information from the newspaper L’Équipe. Stade Français also confirmed in a press release “the altercation between one of its players and a member of the Pau staff”, during this outing in the town of Béarn.
At the end of the defeat against the Section Paloise, the second in a row after that conceded at home in the Paris region derby, “several players and two members of the staff took the decision in the evening to go out into town despite the instructions from sports management to stay at the hotel,” said the Parisian club.
According to L’Équipe, a Stade Français player allegedly hit a member of the Pau Section management in the face during this outing. According to information from the Republic of the Pyreneesit is the former Pau third row Giovanni Habel-Küffner.
After these incidents, Stade Français carried out an internal investigation and took the decision to sanction the offenders, added the club, without however specifying the nature of the sanctions, nor the identity of the actors.
