Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: The Israeli army announced, on Friday, the resumption of fighting against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, after the end of the truce between the two parties.

The Israeli army said, “Hamas violated the truce and fired a missile toward Israel.”

Media sources reported that an Israeli raid targeted the Abu Iskander area, north of Gaza City, among a series of other raids and artillery strikes.

At 7 a.m. Gaza time (0500 GMT), Friday, the temporary truce between Israel and Hamas ended, after neither side announced an agreement to extend it.

In the hour before the truce ended, Israel said it intercepted a rocket fired from Gaza, and Hamas media reported hearing sounds of explosions and gunfire in the Strip.

The 7-day truce, which began on November 24 and was extended twice, allowed the exchange of dozens of hostages held in Gaza for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners, and facilitated the entry of more humanitarian aid into the Strip.
